Update that retro tile with contemporary fabrics.
The striped fabric is used as a large ruffle on the gathered valance and then again at the base of the shower curtain giving it a balanced look.
. . . . Update that retro tile with contemporary fabrics. With not much room on either side of this window a swag with rosettes is an ideal treatment. The cupboard doors can be opened without interfering. The dinette side has the same space issues. A coordinating fabric is used banded in the check from the kitchen to tie the two rooms together. The soft treatment allows the cupboards to be opened with interference once again.
A roman shade made of sheer fabric allows light to come into this stairway while still giving privacy when needed. A soft swag made from coordinating fabric hangs from two knobs on the upper window.
. . When there is a lot of furniture in the room sometimes a simple valance is all that is needed. Notice the detail of the twisted cord along the top edge.
