Welcome to my showcase of design ideas and inspiration for custom home décor, flattering window treatments and other soft furnishings. I have been blessed by being invited into many beautiful homes and meeting the nicest people. I am among the fortunate few who truly enjoy a fulfilling and rewarding profession. Thank you for looking at my work.

box pleated valance with drapery panels

When your exposure insists that the blinds be closed all day to keep that hot sun out why not have something beautiful to look at.  This great room has been given new life with a box pleated valance and drapery panels.  Made from a faux linen (much easier to handle with less wrinkles) and banded in a rich brown gross grain ribbon.  The valance was mounted at the ceiling to make use of the vaulted ceiling and the panels were hung beyond the window frame for maximum views.  When this window treatment is open it frames the great outdoors and when closed it adds warmth, cosiness and insulation against the heat and cold.

beforemock roman valanceThis kitchen, overlooking the canal had beautiful views but was lacking.  The nine foot ceilings were lacking.  Color was lacking.  We found a contemporary fabric with a black background and leaf motifs to add color, organic pattern and depth to the room and to bring in balance to the dark woods and carpeting in the room.  A mock roman valance was mounted on boards more than a foot above the windows adding to the height of those windows and accentuating the tall ceiling.  Neutral linen bands were strategically placed adding to the visual interest.  A shorter valance was placed over the french door and kitchen sink so as to not look unfinished.

Here we have a large bay window in the dinette with nine foot ceilings.  A very expansive room. The walls are painted a warm caramel color and the views need to stay unubstructive.  A continuous sheffield valance is mounted above the transom window covering the tracks of the honeycomb blinds, when needed.  The sheffield valance adds softness, style and pattern to this nook.  The window over the kitchen sink was not forgotten with a matching sheffield valance.before

  • De-clutter – get rid of things that have no purpose or no longer seem beautiful.    There are many places that would love your gently used items.  Lightening up is a a very uplifting experience so don’t wait until you are ready to sell your house to spruce it up – do it now and enjoy.  It’s like those who save their best china and towels for company, as if you and your family are not good enough.  This is your finest hour and a few small changes can make a huge difference.
