Welcome to my showcase of design ideas and inspiration for custom home décor, flattering window treatments and other soft furnishings. I have been blessed by being invited into many beautiful homes and meeting the nicest people. I am among the fortunate few who truly enjoy a fulfilling and rewarding profession. Thank you for looking at my work.

For creativity and uniqueness think beyond the standard shaped valances. This custom banner shaped valance is fanciful and fun. By using both a solid color fabric, which compliments the leather sectional, and pairing it with a bold patterned fabric, the banner design is accentuated. This technique is also a great way to stretch a more costly printed fabric by using it in combination with one that may be more affordable, the solid. The edges of the window and the window separation are softened with the use of a shorter jabot, lined in the solid color, giving the valance a tailored edge and completing the unique design.

The same way a necklace or colorful pair of shoes adds punch to a simple black dress, an unexpected touch of trim along a valances edge accentuates the window treatment.  This beautiful valance is  gathered on a wide decorative drapery rod, a simple drapery panel hangs underneath and is gracefully tied back. The use of two fabrics, a subtle print on the valance and tie back is color coordinated with the solid drapery panel. The choice of fabric color pairs expertly with the wallpaper. The valance and wide tie back are embellished with tassel fringe giving the window treatment interest and depth.

Larger windows  can often be difficult when selecting a window treatment style. The long width if not treated properly can look busy and over stated. Larger windows rarely accommodate ready made window treatments and usually require custom.

The shape and style of a valance and the way in which it is trimmed, transform a simple rectangle into something special. As shown here, this tailored valance uses a solid black fabric but once accented by a multi-colored striped fabric, sewn on the bias, it creates a unique window treatment. The valance is hung high so that the beautiful view is not obstructed, while the short pleated jabot is strategically placed in each of the window separations.

The outer edge of the window is softened by a longer jabot that is fully lined with the striped fabric, truly making this valance window treatment  a measure of success.

The quilted roller shades serve as an amazing insulator, in the cold winter months, for the windows, of this lake home. When rolled up in the summer, the mechanisms and shade end caps were clearly visible. Custom cornices creatively conceal the large bulky shade.

The padded cornices were joined together in the corner to create a unified window.  The uncomplicated box styling of the cornice creates a simple, refined look.

Roller shades were not only used on the main windows, but the doors as well. The padded cornice is added to hide the roller shade and give an aesthetic appeal to the room. The height of the cornice allows for head clearance when entering through the door.

To help with the heating cost the quilted roller shades were used on the door wall as well.

The height of the door wall was cause for a large diameter roll when the shade was in the up position. The cornice board depth allows the complete roll and mounting hardware to be covered.

The beautiful warm tone damask fabric, used to create the cornice, complements the quilted motif of the roller shade perfectly. Cording in the same fabric is used to bottom edge of the cornice giving it a finished touch.

The padded custom cornices give the living room an updated look that is both tailored and refined.
