Welcome to my showcase of design ideas and inspiration for custom home décor, flattering window treatments and other soft furnishings. I have been blessed by being invited into many beautiful homes and meeting the nicest people. I am among the fortunate few who truly enjoy a fulfilling and rewarding profession. Thank you for looking at my work.

Is it acceptable to use two different window treatment styles in the same room? The best window treatments should evolve from the need to solve a problem, or simply create something special in a room. The treatments do not have to be the same style if the windows are in the same room. Often the shape and size of the windows should be the first determining factor. As shown in this room, both windows are in a box out frame, however, they are two totally different shapes, so mixing the styles is a perfect solution. The door wall is long and tall and the side by side windows are short forming a window seat. The door wall style is perfect for pinch pleated drapery panels hung with rings from a decorative rod. The smaller side by side windows use two inch horizontal blinds for privacy but is softened by the Roman shades. Using the same checked fabric for the two different window treatments helps to bring the room together visually.

When decorating today there are no set rules as what type of window treatment coordinates with what style of furnishings. Your room should be a statement that conveys your personal style and defines the mood or look of the room. These  tailored cornice boards with drapery panels set a subtle mood to this monochromatic room. The color of the treatment blends with the wall color and the cream cording at the top and bottom edge of the cornice, pulls in the chair color accenting the neutral palette. This room conveys a sophisticated yet simple style.

Tables covered with skirts are a perfect alternative to a traditional nightstand. The covered tables are economical and still offer hidden storage. The fabric gives the room texture and softness that can’t be achieved  with a wooden nightstand. The round shape also offers versatility to the rectangular pieces of bedroom suite.  This table skirt was interlined with a soft flannel  to add softness and body to the table

The Roman shade is a very versatile valance. This valance style allows for a variety of fabric choices and room styles. The tailored design works well with traditional, transitional or even contemporary styles. The horizontal folds allow the use of a checked pattern, a stripe, solid or a pattern motif.  This valance is accented with a flat panel tie and solid green fabric covered button. The green in the fabric is also used on the wall paint color and the top down bottom up pleated shade creating a cohesive look.

This beautifully coordinated spare bedroom welcomes tired guests. The pinch pleated drapery panels give the room a calm finishing touch. The panels in a neutral check pattern coordinate with the wallpaper and blanket, blending together in perfect harmony. The pinch pleated drapery panels are hung from a metal decorative rod, which plays off the color of the iron beds. The coordinated metal rings allow the drapery panels to be hung at floor length, perfect for both the size and height of the window and room. The shade offers light and privacy control when needed.Truly this room makes your home a haven for guests.
