Welcome to my showcase of design ideas and inspiration for custom home décor, flattering window treatments and other soft furnishings. I have been blessed by being invited into many beautiful homes and meeting the nicest people. I am among the fortunate few who truly enjoy a fulfilling and rewarding profession. Thank you for looking at my work.

Custom cornice

Some custom window treatments can easily be transformed, saving you money. This bay window and door wall received an updated look. The sheer print panels on the side windows were replaced with a current style commercial roller shade that allows you to see the outside through its transparency. The same vertical blinds remain over the door wall. While the cornice was simply recovered in a multi-colored stripe fabric and then trimmed with beautiful beaded fringe. Short jabots were also added to the sides creating a subtle edge to the window shape, truly transforming these treatments.

Can you tell me how this cornice was constructed? I have the same window & door configuration in my kitchen. I’m stumped as to how to build the cornice. Is it constructed in three separate pieces? The only difference is I have sheer window treatments in between each window and door.

Thank you for visiting my website and for your inquiry. This is in fact a cornice that was built in three pieces then butted together once it was installed. I have attached them together at the back with some hinges but you can also staple on some velcro strips at each corner to hold them in place.

Good luck and please don’t hesitate to contact me with any further questions.

Tab top drapery panelsWith the sun shining right in your eyes, it is evident this bedroom needed light control. So, first on your list of window treatment solutions, light control. The 2″ horizontal wood blinds are a clean yet functional solution to control light and temperature control in this bedroom. A decorative metal rod is used to hang tab-top drapery panels. The drapery panels are simply tied back keeping the view open. Together the blinds and drapery panels are a practical yet simple decorative solution.

Bell valance

Pairing a valance with a fixed or operable drapery panel creates a decorating punch. These windows use 2″ horizontal wood blinds as the functional window treatment, allowing light and privacy control, while the bell valance and fixed tied back drapery panel give the windows depth and visual interest. The subtle color of the fabric allows the creative design of the valance to stand out. Bell valance with drapery panel

To  help accentuate the bell shape the valance is trimmed in a warm contrast cording, the cording is also used to trim the drapery tie back.

Custom Valance

Ready made window treatments lack the creative edge that custom window treatments offer. These window treatments speak for themselves and are truly custom. When selecting custom window treatments you will be able to choose from a much larger selection of fabrics, coordinating one or even more perfectly with the other design elements in the room, as seen here. The design style will be endless. This one of a kind, creative valance uses a simple jabot on the ends with contrasting color and offers a tailored top of unique folds and a bottom that creates three subtle peaks. These treatments are lined helping to protect the fabric from the sun, most ready made window treatments are not lined. These valances are also trimmed with matching tassels, another detail often lacking in ready made. Custom window treatments offer so much more than ready made and are truly a professional look.

Stagecoach valance

White, although not considered a color, can be a great choice in your fabric color selection. By using a shade of white for the fabric in this stagecoach valance, your eye is drawn to the accent in this room, the ceramic three dimensional vegetables hung on the soffit wall. The white fabric is echoed in the color of the 2″ horizontal blinds and the cabinets. A striped fabric cut on the bias is used to make the accent bands and add the perfect touch of subtle color. The combination of the two fabrics is enough to soften the window and the horizontal blinds yet allow the artwork to shine through.
