This kitchen, overlooking the canal had beautiful views but was lacking. The nine foot ceilings were lacking. Color was lacking. We found a contemporary fabric with a black background and leaf motifs to add color, organic pattern and depth to the room and to bring in balance to the dark woods and carpeting in the room. A mock roman valance was mounted on boards more than a foot above the windows adding to the height of those windows and accentuating the tall ceiling. Neutral linen bands were strategically placed adding to the visual interest. A shorter valance was placed over the french door and kitchen sink so as to not look unfinished.
