With not much room on either side of this window a swag with rosettes is an ideal treatment. The cupboard doors can be opened without interfering.
The dinette side has the same space issues. A coordinating fabric is used banded in the check from the kitchen to tie the two rooms together. The soft treatment allows the cupboards to be opened with interference once again.

I like this but I wish I could see the other end (the entire valance)
